JEFFERY J. JACKSON

Corporal Jackson was born in Saskatchewan and grew up on a grain farm near North Battleford. He graduated high school and attended the University of Saskatchewan where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture. After working a few years in the industry, he moved to Williams Lake, British Columbia, and worked in Forestry for many years. Jeff was an active member of the Williams Lake Fire Department. During this time he became very interested in photography and enjoyed using slide film and eventually built a darkroom in his basement where he could develop black and white large format negatives. He also made his own prints and continued to read several books on photography. He joined the Williams Lake Royal Canadian Mounted Police as an Auxiliary member where he became very interested in the Forensic area, drawn to the darkroom in the basement of the Detachment where several RCMP Forensic Specialists taught him darkroom technique. Jeff joined the RCMP in 2006 and after his six month tour in Regina was posted to Fort St. John, BC. His love for photography continued to grow and was he was quickly designated as the ‘B watch’ photographer while on duty. Jeff taught classes in photography at the Northerns Light College and after three years of General Duty was selected for the Forensic Identification Unit understudy program. He trained for eight weeks at the Canadian Police College where he furthered his photography and crime scene management skills. Corporal Jackson was posted to the Coquitlam Detachment and eventually made his way to Surrey, BC where he worked for three years in the busiest Forensic Identification Section in Canada. Jeff was promoted to Corporal and now works in Maple Ridge, BC as a Forensic Identification Specialist taking on several homicide investigations each year working closely with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. Jeff continues to teach surveillance photography techniques to specialized units within the RCMP such as the Prolific Offender Target Team and the Sexual Predator Observation Team. Jeff enjoys sports and action photography as well as wildlife photography. Jeff lives in Maple Ridge with his wife Catherine and three children Jeremy, Anna and Jodi Jackson.
